Aku nak cite kat korang pasal takraw lak ari ni, one the most fascinating sports today. Tapi sayang die punye coverage dalam TV, huh.. sikit gile! Mana pegi sponsor semua aku tak tau la. Dulu time Perilly’s sponsor, banyak la jugak kuar TV. Contoh macam Perilly's Grand Prix Sirkit Kebangsaan yg femes time 1995 - 2001 dulu..

Tapi since rokok punya kompeni dah tak dapat privilege nak sponsor any sport, takraw ni dah di anak tirikan. Tgk la time Sukan Sea ari tu, and pulak this IS the stage where Malaysia and Thailand, the sport’s top two powerhouse's intense battle is most eagerly anticipated! Tapi, mane coverage? Well.. actually ayah aku kate ade. Tapi tak abis. Setakat satu set jek, itupun petang. Mane puas hati beb! Org nak tgk winning moment tu. and YES! We won gold medal..
But they never showed it! Not even in Buletin Utama!
Huh.. and that’s why I don’t even know who the top players in Malaysia are. Kalu setakat tau name dalam paper tapi kalu tak tgk skill diorang camna nak appreciate. Tapi kalu dulu, player yg aku suke.. Rehan Mat Din, Zabidi Shariff, Nordin Sabaruddin, Raziman Hassan, Kriengkrai Mutalai, Pakdee, to name a few. Memang muke2 ni mesti ade punye mane2 tournament. Tapi sekarang? Sape? yang aku kenal pun, tekong kude Thailand la.. Suebsak Phunsueb!

Anyways, congrats to Mohd Putra Abdul Ghani (apit kanan), Mohd Normanizam Ahmad (tekong) and Mohd Zulkarnain Arif (apit kiri) yg berjaya mengembalikan kegemilangan Malaysia dalam sukan takraw kat Sukan Sea Filipina ari tuu.. Malaysia Boleh!.
Enough about the rants. Lets talk about the game pulak, where some might say that Sepak Takraw is the game where soccer, volleyball and gymnastics played in one. It’s true! I mean, tgk la skill yg ade dalam takraw nih, sepak, timbang bola, send the ball over the net, acrobatic serve and smash. It covers everything! Oh.. except hand involves only during the serve..
Among all the sports I have ever played, or even represented for schools / college.. Sepak Takraw is the one that I treasured the most.. compare to others like football, ping pong, volleyball, athletics, badminton.. yeah.. I used to represent my former institutions in these sports..
Which position did I play? I was the ‘Killer’.. the most skillful and electrifying position of any sport in the whole wide world. Maybe like the ‘Seeker’ in Quidditch..
But due to some pressure, and failed-self-motivation, I felt that I did not give a 100% during official games (although I went as far as state level). But when it came to ‘main petang2’, huh, I bet I was the best in the court! Umm, I’m talking about 10 years back when I was 65 kilos aaa. But, man.. I was a high flyer, a daredevil, risking my body attempting all kinda dangerous maneuvers. One of my friends even measured the height when I was ‘killing’ or spiking, or smashing or better known in Malay tongue as Lipat. Well, my body air-borne like 5 feet above the ground and my smash-foot was up like.. almost 2 metres! (which most pro killers would easily achieve). Man.. every memory I have about each spike is precious..

But what I’m gonna be writing next is not about the rules, the equipments, the scoring, how the game is played, but rather discussing the skills involved, or needed for Sepak Takraw. I assume that you (well.. I guess there are only 4 or 5 people reading this..) know a little bit about this game. Banyak yang aku nak cover pun pasal killer la ni. Anyways, sebab panjang sgt, aku masukkan dalam entry lain laa..
